Trees are guardians of life
They support and play a significant role in our continuing existence. Trees communicate with each other and other plants & beings. They have an energetic flow that transmits to every living creature. They are part of the essential building blocks of life in the air that we breath and the food that we eat.
Trees provide us with:
- Protection, fuel, shelter and sustenance.
- Materials such as paper, charcoal, inks and natural dyes.
- Oxygen and purity to the air that we breath. Food and medicine.
Qualities of the trees explored in this series of workshops:
1. Texture
2. Shape
3. Energy and Colour
It is these qualities that we are going to focus on and different mediums to express those qualities in our work.
Medium: charcoal/charcoal pencil; Drawing and relief rubbing
Workshop 1
Will focus on Texture
Participants will have an opportunity to experience the energy & qualities of trees mindfully in a short excursion to the forest. Participants who do not choose to, or are unable to do this will be able to stay in the venue & carry on with their work.
