Textile Art Seascape using Tweed and embroidery
A full day Seascape workshop in textile art using textile and thread to make a hooped picture by exploring colour, contrast and stitches.
In the morning Janice of Canny Coo, will provide guidance in choosing and layering tweed fabric to create a seaside picture. She will then demonstrate how a variety of embroidery stitches can be used to join the fabric. The afternoon session will focus on adding detail to the hooped picture using embroidery such as flowers, trees, sheep and people.
Janice Lees
Janice can barely remember a time when she didn’t sew. Primary school, her first Saturday job, quilting and her last job running her own craft business The Canny Coo. Inspired by Innerleithen Open Studios, Janice now focuses on creating textile landscapes of her surroundings – local hills, lochs and the sea. Janice uses new, but unwanted, materials such as lambswool, tweed and threads to create beautiful, unique products. Reducing waste is an important part of her work.
