Old Mill Arts
Edward Campbell and Lucy Lee
Edward and Lucy are based in Dumfries in Galloway. They are both practicing artists individually and often work together teaching the history and practice and making a wide variety of art and creative materials.
This is a workshop exploring the history of the colour blue. Participants will be guided through the intriguing story of how blue colours were sourced thousands of years ago and learn what the colour blue has symbolised to different cultures from early times to the present day.
The first part of the day is a journey from the earliest sources of blue through to contemporary versions of the colour. Participants will experience using authentic blue pigments from across time to get to know this colour more deeply. In the afternoon the focus will be on making different blue art materials to take home at the end of the day.
